The fifth annual CINCINNATI PSYCHOTRONIC FILM FESTIVAL returns to the historic ESQUIRE THEATRE this August, presented and curated by OUTER CINEMA CINCINNATI with eight of the weirdest and wildest cult films to ever be projected on a Cincinnati screen. Join us Wednesday, August 26th - Friday, August 28th!

Wednesday, August 26

7:30pm - THE DEVIL QUEEN (1974): Rio's criminal underworld is run by an unexpected boss: a femme Queen with a taste for power and violence. But heavy lies the crown: what Queen can trust her subjects, however fabulous? When she sets up a stoolie to take the fall for her boy, a plot against Her Majesty arises!

9:30pm - SHEILA AND THE BRAINSTEM (1989): In 1989, UCLA film students Russell Bates and Matt McDowell borrowed a 16mm camera, maxed out their credit cards and made a punk rock road movie about love, death, jerky, kidnapped newlyweds, 24-hour minimarts and a magical brainstem that promises immortality, featuring appearances by L.A. music scene icons.

Thursday, August 27

5:30pm - THE EMBALMER (1996): A deranged mortician preys on a group of teenage friends in a desperate attempt to obtain their bodily fluids needed to bring his family back to life.

7:30pm - LOVE MASSACRE (1981): The story of a young co-ed in San Francisco whose boyfriend turns into a demented stalker after the suicide of his sister.

9:30pm - THE MANITOU (1978): A psychic's girlfriend finds out that a lump on her back is a growing reincarnation of a 400-year-old demonic Native American spirit. Starring Tony Curtis, Susan Strasberg, Michael Anasara

Friday, August 28

5:30pm - CHALLENGE OF THE TIGER (1980): A kung fu master and a charming womanizer, who work for the CIA, deal with threats from neo-Nazis and Vietnamese espionage agents as they attempt to possess the formula for a super-sterility drug. Starring Bruce Le, Richard Harrison, Joeng-lee Hwang.

7:30pm - REFLECTION IN A DEAD DIAMOND (2025): When the mysterious woman in the room next door disappears, a debonair 70-year-old ex-spy living in a luxury hotel on the Côte d'Azur is confronted by the demons and darlings of a lurid past in which moviemaking, memories and madness collide.

9:30pm - ROAR (1981): A naturalist living with big cats in East Africa expects a visit by his family of four from Chicago. A mix-up leaves him searching for his family, who have been left in the clutches of wild lions. Starring Tippi Hedren, Noel Marshall, Melanie Griffith
