THE SHINING (1980)

SHOCKTOBER continues with...

THE SHINING (1980) One of the most analyzed and discussed entries in the horror genre in film history. Adapted from Stephen King's novel, THE SHINING features a memorable performance and lines from Jack Nicholson ("Heeeerrre's Johnny") while dancing around the question of whether these ghosts are real or "all in the head."

This film will be introduced by and followed with a Q&A by Film Professor Joe Horine!

SYNOPSIS: Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack's writing goes nowhere and Danny's visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family.
