The Other Side of Everything/ Druga strana svega (2017, Serbia/France, Mila Turajlic)
(This film is in Serbian with English Subtitles)
A locked door in an apartment in Belgrade, which has not been opened for more than 65 years, drives the desire to explore what comes after a democratic revolution. Faced with the symbol of how the political becomes the personal, Turajlic’s documentary chronicles a Serbian family in order to understand the difficult choices one makes when struggling against repression and dealing with disillusion under transition. “Engrossing despite its daunting scope and tangled politics, The Other Side of Everything offers an uncommon opportunity to view the shifting borders and identities of an entire region through the eyes of the Eastern European intellectuals caught in the turmoil.”
