Félicité (2017) - Senegalese director Alain Gomis’s film traces a frenetic musical journey through the teeming streets of Kinshasa. The eponymous protagonist, a nightclub singer, crosses paths with various segments of Congolese society as she desperately searches for money to fund her teenage son’s medical care. Felicité offers a compelling portrait of a determined woman and fascinating look at Kinshasa as a rapidly changing urban space. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize (Silver Bear) at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival.
